Some Things To Consider

What we are trying to do here

When people hunger, they need to be fed.  When people thirst, they need something to drink.  It does not matter if the hunger and/or thirst is physical or spiritual, except that satisfying physical hunger and thirst is often simpler.

There are those whose spiritual experience was tainted by someone who had a personal agenda, was governed by greed, acted and/or spoke out of ignorance, or who was simply wrong.  They need comfort as well as assurance of what is genuinely right.

There are those who are spiritually wounded, especially those who were wounded by people who purported to serve or speak for The Divine.  They need healing, and they also need to meet The Divine directly.

There are those who are tired and disappointed from a spiritual endeavor which appears to be fruitless or of limited value. They need to be shown where some doors be found and opened, and how to light the lights.

There are those who are already on a good spiritual journey, but seek more or desire as much fulfillment as The Divine can provide.  They need to be told where they might look to find what they seek, and celebration when they find more of what they seek.

That does not mean that you can't offer entertainment, humor, and fun.  In fact, they are a part of what's needed.  But it does mean that you understand what your contribution is part of.

The Wise Ones' Net is an omni-denominational outreach ministry of Temple Of Gaia, Inc., a church incorporated as a Nonprofit under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Nevertheless, nothing offered by The Wise Ones' Net is an attempt to convert anyone to any particular faith.  The Wise Ones' Net and the audio and video shows it provides are not affiliated with or answerable to any other group or association except as explicitly stated in the content of a particular show. The affiliation of any individual with any other group or association does not imply association by or for The Wise Ones' Net unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Our Goal Statement

The goal of The Wise Ones' Net is to provide spiritual programming for those whose needs seem to be missed by others.  This is part of what we mean in our slogan:

"Religious Programming That Actually Works!"

What We're Looking For

1.  Reliability.  Whether your schedule is daily, weekly, monthly, or whatever, you have a schedule and you follow it as much as possible.  We're all human, but our listeners like as much reliability as you can provide.

2.  Consistency.  Every show has its "specials" and there are times when the regular format doesn't accommodate the content, but you have a basic format that you don't deviate from unless there's a reason to do so.

3.  Appropriateness.  We're not prudes, but we're also not going to use foul language just for the sake of using it.  We don't intend to offend, but we have the right to express an honest opinion.  We don't do "stunts" for the sake of "shock value" or for saying "just kidding" later, which does not preclude the use of effects for the sake of visualization or making a point.

4.  Professionalism.  Our vision includes the day when the content we offer here will be at least as much a part of mainstream media as a religious cable TV channel is in 2009.  Even if we are not making money now, we must strive for as much quality as possible to gain the recognition necessary for further steps forward.

5.  Respect.  Respect is not given or taken, it is mutually exchanged.  We are a diverse group and we respect each other, including (and perhaps especially) our differences.

6.  Experience.  Many people decide to try podcasting, and only a small percentage of them are still producing episodes a year after they decide to try.  It takes time, work, and desire to regularly produce a podcast or a videocast.  It is also necessary to get to know the hardware and software involved in order to have a reasonable degree of consistency.  And, in addition to all that, there's learning how to make an error-free RSS feed.  Unless we know you already from prior shows, we'll be looking for at least five shows having been successfully produced and distributed before you join us.

Please note the following stuff we have to explain explicitly:
Temple of Gaia, The Wise Ones' Net, and The Secrets In Plain Sight does not exercise editorial or content control over affiliated podcasts or videocasts.  Those who produce the shows retain sole responsibility for their content, in the same manner that the owner of a bookstore cannot be expected to retain control over the content of books on the shelves of the bookstore.
Those in charge of Temple of Gaia and The Wise Ones' Net do, however, reserve the right to decline or terminate affiliation with any podcast or videocast for any reason or without reason.  What is being offered is an affiliation for the duration of the mutual pleasure of parties involved, with no contract or compensation, explicit or implicit unless otherwise specified by competent responsible persons with appropriate authority.
We do also reserve the right to make reasonable charges for services, such as the design of a custom page.  A standard page, which is based on the RSS feed's contents and is demonstrated in The Secrets In Plain Sight's web page, is offered at no charge for the duration of mutual consent.
